Scholarship Process

Scholarship’s Interview Structure

The structure of the scholarship interview is designed for those top 50 candidates who have been shortlisted by the Expert Committee at the institute using specific criteria. The details of the specific criteria have already been published on the institute’s website. This circular is to inform the format of the interview and list out the instructions which are expected to be followed.

The interview will be organized at the institute premises. The name of the candidate and the interview’s date will be announced separately.

The entire interview process is divided into three stages, in the first stage, there will be a relative assessment of the candidate’s profile, followed by that, in the second stage, the candidate’s critical thinking and writing skills will be evaluated, and in the last stage, candidates will be examined on four pre-decided criteria.

The total marks for evaluation are 100, of which 25% are allocated to the candidate’s profile. To assess the profile, the same 6 criteria will be used to assess (relatively) the candidate’s academic sincerity. Below are the following six criteria.

  • IELTS (7+)
  • SAT Score (above 1200)
  • IGCSE or IB Diploma
  • Foreign language knowledge (Preferable for East Asia countries, but not in particular)
  • Work experience
  • Senior secondary diploma (more than 90%)

To appear in stages 2 and 3, candidates are expected to report to the institute premises on the scheduled day of the interview at 9:30 AM (The date of the interview will be informed by the institute separately, and candidates are requested to come to the institute strictly on the scheduled date of interview). You are being advised to keep checking your email.

The institute has constituted a three-member expert committee, which will evaluate a candidate in two stages on pre-decided criteria. The evaluation will be out of 75% marks, where each expert will evaluate each candidate out of 25 marks.

On the day of the scheduled interview, a candidate will be given two subjective questions on a specific subject matter after reporting at the institute. The subject could be of varied discipline, but general in nature. However, before answering the questions candidates are expected to read and analyze them carefully. Questions might have asked for critical analysis or could simply be provocative questions, or maybe asking for personal views. Three experts will evaluate answers, and each expert will determine out of 8.3 marks, 4.1 marks for each question. Ideally, to complete the task, 30 minutes are allocated. Candidates will be asked to submit their answers to the experts, once they receive a call for the interview.

In the last stage, a team of three experts (a combination of foreigners and locals both) will conduct the interview. The total time allocated for the interview is 30 minutes, where for 20 minutes, experts will interact with the candidate to evaluate a candidate on four predetermined criteria, that is:

  • Critical thinking
  • Leadership Potential
  • Social Responsibility
  • Soft Skills

At the end of 20 minutes interaction, a candidate will get an opportunity of 5 minutes to request an expert opinion on a specific subject matter or seek guidance, if any. The last 5 minutes are allocated for experts’ discussion. Each expert will evaluate a candidate out of 16.6 marks.

Summary of the Evaluation

The final result will be announced by the institute after conducting interviews of all the candidates.

NB: This is important to clarify that the scholarship which will be awarded to the candidate will be only for next academic year. To continue the scholarship for consecutive academic years, the awarded student must achieve 80% marks overall, and in none of the subjects below 70% marks in semester exams. Besides academic performance, scholarship awarded students will be expected to actively participate in extracurricular activities which will be organized by the institute. At the end of the academic year to continue the scholarship for the forthcoming year, an awarded student must submit at least 5 certificates of participation.
